Subject: New IPv6 records making the news

Hi Jim;

Just an FYI. A team lead by the University of Tokyo set a bunch of new IPv6 speed records late last year. They have now been approved and some

press releases are going out now. Our media people watch for this kind and
stuff and have been sending me email all day with updates. Both Network

World's newsletter <http://www.networkworld.com/nlnetflash26108> and ComputerWorld http://cwflyris.computerworld.com/t/343435/136910/11265/0/

have picked this up.

This team has set both IPv4 & IPv6 records using 30,000 Km paths (Japan to
western Europe and back via North America. The v6 record is about 7 Gbps
while the v4 was just bumped to just under 9 Gbps. I expect the team will
bump the v6 record up again this summer.

Rich
